“ABBA The Music” - Sweden’s Best ABBA Tribute Band - Dances into the MLC
BUSHKILL, PA - “ABBA The Music” - Sweden’s best ABBA tribute band, incorporating members from the original ABBA band -
invites audiences to come dance, come sing, come have the
time of their lives at the Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts, Wednesday, July 19 at 7 p.m. The event is a MLCPA “Carload Concert,” with admission just $20 per carload. To add to the ABBA celebration, any audience members arriving in vehicles from 1974 (the year ABBA was founded) or older will receive free admission to the concert.
“ABBA The Music’s” goal - to look and sound as close to the original ABBA as possible - has brought the show worldwide audience and critical raves, and has resulted in the ensemble performing at the Hollywood Bowl, the Ravinia Festival and other prestigious venues. Some of the original ABBA musicians who have performed with “ABBA The Music” have included Finn Sjoberg on guitar, Ola Brunkert on drums, Ulf Andersson on saxophone, Mats Ronander on guitar, Roger Palm on drums and Rutger Gunnarsson on bass. “ABBA The Music” has been touring the world since 2002, entertaining ABBA fans of all ages. This is the show’s fifth U.S. tour.
The original ABBA rocked the world with its unique harmonies and engaging disco beat from 1974 through 1982, scoring such
international hits as “Dancing Queen,” “Knowing Me, Knowing You,” “Waterloo,” “Mamma Mia,” “I Do, I Do, I Do,” “Super Trouper,” “Fernando,” “The Winner Takes It All,” “S.O.S,” and many more. The quartet of Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Faltskog and Ani-Frid Lyngstad took a “temporary break” from performing in 1982 and never re-grouped, much to the disappointment of their millions of fans. But beginning in the 1990s, a major ABBA revival took place, with the group’s songs being used in popular movies
and TV shows, and a compilation CD, ABBA Gold, selling 26 million copies. The hugely successful Broadway musical “Mamma Mia!”, based on the songs of ABBA, is still touring the world.
The “ABBA The Music” tribute band is made up of singers Katja Nord, Camilla Hedren, Martin Hakansson and Johan Lofgren, who uncannily impersonate the look and music of the originals, bringing back all the fun and fabulousness of the ABBA era.
